Once in a blue moon............

A blue moon is a rare event.

They occur occasionally due to smoke or dust particles in the atmosphere creating a blue colour.

A true blue moon occurs when 2 full moons occur in a calendar month. The second full moon is called a blue moon.

This blue moon event occurs about 7 times every 19 years.

Even more rare are double blue moons, when 2 calendar blue moons occur within the same year.

The next blue moon will occur 30 January 2010  (EST). Also 30 March 2010. This means the second blue moon event during 2010 is a double blue moon! Very auspicious event!

A double blue moon event occurs about every 20 years only!

After these dates the next blue moon is in 2012.

Blue moons are considered rare and auspicious events/experiences.
